P President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has submitted three non-career ambassadorial nominees to the Senate for deployment to the United States, the United Kingdom and France.

The nominees—Ambassador Ayodele Oke, Retired Colonel Lateef Kayode Are, and Ambassador Amin Mohammed Dalhatu—will assume their postings once they are screened and confirmed by the Senate.

Ambassador Amin Mohammed Dalhatu previously served as Nigeria’s envoy to South Korea, having been appointed in 2016 during President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

Ambassador Ayodele Oke, a graduate of Emory University, Atlanta, is a former Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA). He also served as Nigeria’s ambassador to the Secretariat of the Commonwealth of Nations in London.

Retired Colonel Lateef Kayode Are, who earned First Class Honours in Psychology from the University of Ibadan in 1980, was Director General of the State Security Service (SSS) from 1999 to 2007. He later served as National Security Adviser in 2010 and previously held roles in the Directorate of Military Intelligence.

The Senate is expected to begin screening the nominees in the coming days.
