Peter Obi pays solidarity visit to Dele Farotimi after release from prison

P Peter Obi, the Labour Party's presidential candidate in the 2023 election, recently visited Dele Farotimi, his former campaign spokesperson, at his Lagos residence. The meeting marked the first time the two had reconnected since Farotimi's release from the Ekiti State correctional center.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, Obi shared his sentiments about the visit, highlighting the resilience and courage of his longtime ally.

“Yesterday, following my visit and meeting with President Obasanjo, I made time to visit my dear younger brother, Dele Farotimi,” Obi wrote.

The former Anambra State governor praised Farotimi’s enduring spirit despite his recent ordeal. “Since his return from the correctional center in Ekiti, I have not had the opportunity to meet with him. I was pleased to find him in good spirits and deeply encouraged by his unwavering dedication to the struggle for a better Nigeria.”

Farotimi, a prominent activist and advocate for good governance, has been a vocal supporter of Obi and the Labour Party's mission to bring transformative change to Nigeria. His recent experience in prison has not deterred his resolve, and Obi's visit underscores the deep bond and shared vision between the two.

The reunion serves as a symbolic gesture of solidarity and a reminder of the ongoing challenges faced by advocates for reform in Nigeria. For supporters of the Labour Party, it is a reaffirmation of the commitment to the fight for justice and progress.
