Mohbad: ROD Hotel Terminates Deal with Jigan Baba Oja

R Rod Hotel & Apartments Ltd has announced the immediate termination of its ambassadorship deal with entertainer Jigan Baba Oja (JBO), citing concerns raised in the ongoing investigation into the death of singer Mohbad.

In a widely circulated memo dated July 31, 2025, and signed by the hotel’s management, the brand expressed its support for justice and accountability in the case.

The statement read:

“This is to inform the general public that, in light of recent developments surrounding the tragic passing of Mohbad, we have made the decision to terminate our ambassadorship deal with Jigan Baba Oja (JBO) — effective immediately.”

The management emphasized that the decision was not a declaration of guilt against Jigan Baba Oja but a reflection of the company’s values. It continued:

“As an organization that stands for justice, integrity, and the rule of law, we cannot ignore the concerns raised by the public. We stand in full solidarity with the call for justice, and we openly support truth, transparency, and all ongoing efforts by VeryDarkMan and other well-meaning Nigerians to promote accountability and seek justice for the late Mohbad.”

ROD Hotel further clarified that although their deal with the influencer was meant to last six months, they are ending the partnership just one month in — without requesting a refund.

“This is a decision made on principle, not profit — a true reflection of the values we uphold at ROD Apartment. We remain committed to being a brand you can trust.”
