Lagos DSVA Partners Traditional Rulers on Sexual Violence Awareness

T The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has engaged traditional rulers as part of activities marking the Domestic and Sexual Violence Awareness Month.

During the event, the Agency decorated the Obas-in-Council with purple ribbons in solidarity with the cause.

Executive Secretary of DSVA, Mrs. Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, commended the royal fathers for their continued support, while the Head of Field Operations, Mrs. Oluwakemi Bello, stressed the critical role of traditional rulers in shaping community values and sustaining the fight against sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV).

In his remarks, the Oba of Lagos, His Royal Majesty, Oba Rilwan Babatunde Akiolu, appreciated the DSVA team and called for more grassroots sensitisation to prevent and raise awareness on SGBV.

The initiative, themed “Turn Obas Purple”, brought together about 50 traditional rulers who pledged to champion the message of prevention and response to SGBV in their domains.
