Troops Repel Multiple Terrorist Attacks Across Borno, Yobe — Over 50 Insurgents Neutralised

T Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have successfully repelled coordinated terrorist attacks on multiple locations across the Joint Operations Area in the early hours of Wednesday, October 23, 2025.

The simultaneous assaults, launched between midnight and 4 a.m., targeted military positions in Dikwa, Mafa, Gajibo (Sector 1, Borno State) and Katarko (Sector 2, Yobe State). Despite the surprise element and intensity of the attacks, the troops stood their ground, fighting gallantly and professionally to repel the onslaught and inflict heavy losses on the terrorists.

According to military sources, over fifty terrorists were neutralised in the coordinated counteroffensive, while several others escaped with gunshot wounds. The troops recovered a significant cache of weapons, including 38 AK-47 rifles, seven PKT machine guns, five RPG tubes, two GPMGs, hand grenades, and thousands of assorted rounds of ammunition.

The operation was reinforced by precision airstrikes from the Air Component Command of OPHK, whose Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) assets provided real-time battlefield awareness and guided the air-ground coordination. This synergy, military officials said, was instrumental in overwhelming the terrorists’ positions and neutralising their escape routes.

Preliminary intelligence indicates that the attackers who struck Dikwa and Gajibo advanced from the Cameroon axis, while those in Katarko infiltrated from the Timbuktu Triangle, a notorious terrorist enclave.

Although a few soldiers sustained injuries, the Defence Headquarters confirmed they are in stable condition. Some vehicles and buildings were also affected by fires caused by the terrorists’ drones and RPG attacks, particularly in Mafa and Dikwa, where defences were briefly tested before being restored.

The Military High Command commended the troops for their gallantry, professionalism, and renewed fighting spirit, describing their performance as a reflection of the Armed Forces’ unwavering commitment to safeguarding Nigeria’s territorial integrity.

“The steadfast courage and tactical superiority displayed by our troops demonstrate the effectiveness of recent reinforcements and the deployment of critical combat enablers into the Theatre,” the statement added.
