Libyan Police Arrest Two Nigerians for Alleged Robbery in Tripoli

L Libyan police in Tripoli have arrested two Nigerians accused of carrying out a series of robberies targeting commercial businesses in the city.

The suspects, both undocumented migrants, were apprehended on August 25 after being identified through CCTV footage capturing their involvement in a recent robbery.

The development was confirmed by Migrant Rescue Watch, an organisation that monitors migrant activities in Libya.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the group noted that the two men had long been under suspicion for multiple break-ins, where the main objective was to steal cash from stores.

“Police in Tripoli arrested 2 undocumented #migrants of Nigerian nationality responsible for series of break and entries and robberies. The accused were targeting commercial stores with the intent of seizing cash. The case was referred to public prosecutor,” the statement read.

Authorities said the police operation was triggered by evidence obtained from security footage at a convenience store, which ultimately led to the swift arrest of the suspects.
