The prestigious scholarship, instituted by BOSAN, is part of a national initiative designed to strengthen legal education and professional standards in Nigeria by supporting exceptional law students at both university and Nigerian Law School levels. The scheme emphasises academic excellence, discipline, sound character, and professional integrity.
Following a rigorous nationwide selection process, Alimi emerged as one of the successful awardees for 2025, placing him among a select group of Nigeria’s most promising emerging legal minds.
According to the official notification, the scholarship will be disbursed in two tranches: ?500,000 during his final year at the university and ?500,000 during his attendance at the Nigerian Law School.
Beyond the financial support, recipients are formally recognised as BOSAN Scholars, a distinction that carries significant professional prestige across universities, the Nigerian Law School, and the wider legal community.
The formal presentation of the award is scheduled for the 50th Anniversary Dinner of the Conferment of the Rank of Senior Advocates of Nigeria, holding on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Harbour Point, Victoria Island, Lagos.
BOSAN also reiterated that the scholarship is subject to strict standards of accountability, noting that any beneficiary who falls below the required benchmarks in academics, conduct, or character risks immediate withdrawal of the award.
Reacting to the achievement, the Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University, Prof. Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, congratulated Alimi, describing the honour as a reflection of LASU’s commitment to excellence.
“This achievement affirms our resolve to produce legal professionals of exceptional quality and integrity. We are proud of Toheeb and wish him greater successes in his legal journey,” she said.
For LASU, Alimi’s recognition underscores the university’s growing reputation for academic excellence, while for the Nigerian legal profession, it signals renewed investment in nurturing a new generation of lawyers grounded in ethics, merit, and service.
