We Haven’t Received Promised $100,000 WAFCON Bonus – Ajibade

Super Falcons captain, Rasheedat Ajibade, has revealed that the Nigerian women’s national football team is yet to receive the $100,000 bonus promised by the Federal Government for their triumphant campaign at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Speaking during an interview with #WithChude, Ajibade explained that the payment, announced to honour the Falcons’ historic victory, has not been made months after the tournament. The delay, she noted, is part of a broader issue of outstanding entitlements for the team.
> “We haven’t received the $100,000 promised by the government. Even our March bonuses is still a work in progress. But hopefully they’ll pay it soon. As soon as it’s being paid, you’ll see it,” Ajibade said.
The Super Falcons’ WAFCON win was celebrated nationwide, hailed as a symbol of Nigeria’s dominance in African women’s football. However, the delayed payment has reignited debates over fair treatment and timely recognition of female athletes in the country.
Ajibade maintained optimism that the situation would soon be resolved, adding that once the funds are released, the public will be duly informed.
