The University of Abuja has inaugurated its Convocation Ceremonies Committee ahead of the institution’s combined 29th and 30th Convocation Ceremonies.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Hakeem Babatunde Fawehinmi, formally inaugurated the committee on Monday, charging members to ensure the delivery of well-organised, dignified and successful ceremonies that reflect the stature of the university.
According to the university, the committee is chaired by Professor Olanrewaju Aladeitan and is mandated, as part of its terms of reference, to plan and execute befitting convocation ceremonies within the shortest possible time frame.
Speaking at the inauguration, Professor Fawehinmi emphasised the importance of teamwork and efficiency, noting that the combined convocation is a significant milestone in the university’s academic calendar.
“This committee has been carefully constituted to ensure that the University of Abuja delivers convocation ceremonies that are orderly, memorable and in line with best academic traditions,” the Vice-Chancellor said.
He expressed confidence in the capacity of the committee members to meet expectations and uphold the university’s image, while assuring management’s support throughout the planning and execution stages.
The combined 29th and 30th Convocation Ceremonies are expected to bring together graduating students, alumni, parents, academic staff and other stakeholders from across the country.
