The management of the University of Abuja has warned members of the public to be wary of fraudsters falsely claiming to facilitate admission, hostel accommodation and recruitment into the institution.
In a disclaimer issued by the university, management said its attention had been drawn to the activities of individuals who circulate fake admission offers, cloned websites and fraudulent social media accounts, as well as make deceptive phone calls and send messages to unsuspecting candidates, parents, guardians and job seekers.
The university stated that admission, accommodation and recruitment processes are strictly conducted through approved and transparent channels.
“The University wishes to state unequivocally that admission, hostel accommodation, and recruitment are conducted strictly through approved and transparent processes. No individual, agent, or third party has been authorised to demand or receive payment or favours on behalf of the University for any of these services,” the statement read.
Management advised the public to disregard and promptly report any such claims, stressing that anyone who deals with fraudsters does so at their own risk.
“Anyone who deals with these fraudsters does so at their own risk, as the University will not be held liable for any loss arising from such dealings,” it added.
The university further directed that all enquiries relating to admission, hostel accommodation and employment should be made through the SERVICOM Unit and the Directorate of Information and University Relations.
It noted that official communication with the public is carried out mainly through its verified platforms, including its website, official email, social media handles and designated phone lines.
The statement was signed by the university management.
