JAMB Approves Admission for 85 Underage Candidates Under Merit-Based Exceptional Policy

T The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has granted admission approval to 85 underage candidates who sat for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), following a thorough screening under its exceptional admission policy.

According to the Board’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, all the selected candidates—each below the minimum age requirement of 16—successfully scaled JAMB’s rigorous multi-stage evaluation and have been directed to proceed to their respective institutions to finalize their admission and print their admission letters.

Benjamin noted that while the age requirement remains in force, the Board may consider rare exceptions for outstanding students in line with global best practices, stressing that the approval was strictly merit-driven.

Meanwhile, the examination body has offered a two-day grace period for candidates who scored 320 and above but were denied admission due to failure to upload their O’Level results. JAMB urged affected applicants to upload their results on or before Wednesday, October 29, 2025, and confirm completion via its support portal.
