Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has expressed deep sadness over the deadly attack on civilians in Woro and Nuku communities of Kaiama Local Government Area, describing the incident as a cowardly act by terrorist elements seeking to undermine ongoing security operations in the state.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the governor strongly condemned the attack, noting that it reflects the frustration of terror cells amid sustained counterterrorism efforts and notable successes recorded by security agencies across Kwara.
“The governor condemns the attack, which he describes as a cowardly expression of frustration by terrorist cells following the ongoing counterterrorism campaigns in parts of the state and the successes so far recorded,” the statement said.
Governor AbdulRazaq explained that the assault appeared to be a deliberate attempt to distract security forces who have intensified operations against criminal networks.
“The attack was apparently aimed at distracting security forces who have successfully hunted down several terrorist and kidnapping gangs across many parts of the state,” the governor said.
He reassured residents that the government remains fully committed to supporting security agencies to ensure the safety of lives and property, adding that counterterrorism operations would continue unabated.
Governor AbdulRazaq also extended heartfelt condolences to the affected communities and families who lost loved ones in the attack.
“The governor expresses his deepest sympathies to the people of Woro and Nuku communities, especially the families affected by the sad incident that occurred on Tuesday,” the statement added.
He prayed for the repose of the souls of the victims and urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information that could aid ongoing operations.
