FG Digitises Credential Verification, Ends Physical Visits to Education Ministry

T The Federal Ministry of Education has fully transitioned the authentication and evaluation of academic credentials to an online platform, effectively scrapping the need for applicants to visit its offices for physical verification.

The development, announced in a statement issued on April 15, 2026, forms part of the Federal Government’s broader push to modernise public service delivery, improve efficiency, and enhance transparency within the education sector.

Under the new arrangement, applicants are required to process all credential verification requests through the ministry’s official digital portal by uploading necessary documents and following outlined procedures.

Director of Press and Public Relations, Boriowo Folasade, said the initiative is in line with the government’s digital transformation agenda and its commitment to strengthening governance through technology.

“This development aligns with the Ministry’s commitment to the Federal Government’s digital transformation agenda and its resolve to deploy modern technology to improve efficiency, ensure data integrity, and support evidence-based policy decisions in the education sector,” she stated.

The ministry further directed that academic transcripts must be sent directly by applicants’ institutions to a designated official email address to facilitate verification.

It emphasised that all processes will now be conducted electronically, removing the need for in-person visits.

“The entire process will now be conducted electronically, and applicants are no longer required to visit the Ministry for physical verification,” the statement added.

According to the ministry, the digital shift is expected to reduce processing delays, streamline procedures, and enhance the credibility of academic credential verification nationwide.

Applicants have been urged to comply strictly with the new guidelines to ensure seamless and timely processing of their requests.
