Facebook has partnered with Nigerian filmmaker Funke Akindele to promote Nigerian storytelling and spotlight local content creators at the London and Lagos premieres of her forthcoming film, The Four: No One Fights Alone.

The collaboration will support the film’s international premiere in London and its homecoming premiere in Lagos, bringing together creators, celebrities and audiences to celebrate Nigerian cinema.

Meta’s Head of Communications for Sub-Saharan Africa, Oluwasola Obagbemi, said the partnership would demonstrate how Facebook helps creators connect with fans, build communities and expand their reach.

He said creators could use the platform to reach international audiences, develop relationships with followers and earn money from original content.

The initiative will also feature Nigerian creators based both in the country and abroad. A creator-hosted space at the premieres will capture social media content exploring how creators use Facebook to connect with younger audiences and share Nigerian stories and culture with people beyond the country’s borders.

Akindele welcomed the collaboration, saying it would help bring African cinema to wider audiences.

She said African filmmakers had stories that audiences around the world could enjoy and expressed excitement about working with Facebook to extend their reach.

The filmmaker announced the partnership on her Facebook page on Thursday, October 29.

About the film

The Four: No One Fights Alone is Akindele’s forthcoming feature film, scheduled to open in cinemas on December 11, 2026.

Produced by Funke Akindele Network and distributed by FilmOne Entertainment, the drama explores friendship, motherhood, resilience and the relationships between women.

The story follows Esosa and three women whose efforts to secure the future of a young man they love test their courage, loyalty and friendship.

The film features an ensemble cast including Bisola Aiyeola, Chioma Akpotha, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Timini Egbuson, Lateef Adedimeji, Ali Nuhu, Uzor Arukwe, Ronke Oshodi Oke, Antar Laniyan and Wunmi Toriola.

Singer Waje and Afrobeats artiste Shoday also feature in the production.

The partnership gives Facebook an opportunity to connect the film’s promotion with Nigeria’s wider creative community, while providing creators with a platform to share content around the premieres and introduce Nigerian stories to audiences at home and abroad.
