At least 13 people have been killed after a Russian drone struck a railway station in the Ukrainian city of Dnipro, hitting a platform where passenger trains were present.

The attack occurred on Thursday, October 29, 2026, according to Ukrainian officials, who said emergency workers were attending to victims at the scene.

Ukraine’s state railway operator, Ukrzaliznytsia, said a jet-powered drone struck a platform where train No. 866, travelling from Dnipro to Zaporizhzhia, was standing.

The railway operator said people were still on the platform despite an earlier warning of heightened danger.

Regional governor Oleksandr Hanzha announced that 13 people had been killed in the attack. Initial reports said at least five others were injured, although subsequent reports gave a higher injury figure as emergency operations continued.

Dnipro Mayor Borys Filatov also confirmed that a civilian train had been hit, describing the incident as a tragedy.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the strike, describing it as horrific and calling for continued pressure on Moscow.

Images released by Ukrainian emergency services showed rescuers attending to injured people at the railway station, alongside damaged passenger trains.

Other attacks reported across Ukraine

The railway station strike occurred amid further Russian attacks reported in other parts of Ukraine.

In Chernihiv, northern Ukraine, a strike on the city centre killed two 15-year-old girls and wounded more than a dozen people, according to local authorities cited in reports published on Thursday.

In Kremenchuk, a drone struck a multi-storey residential building, killing two people and injuring several others, including a six-year-old child, according to regional officials.

Authorities also reported an attack in the Rivne region that killed one man.

The latest incidents come as Russia and Ukraine continue exchanging drone and missile attacks amid efforts to resume peace negotiations with United States involvement.

The full circumstances of Thursday’s railway station attack and the final number of casualties remained subject to further updates as emergency operations continued.
