The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has honoured a retired Deputy Superintendent of Traffic, Anifa Bello Abiodun, with an Award of Recognition and cash support for her exemplary service and dedication to traffic management.

The recognition was presented to Bello at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, in appreciation of her years of service under the Ogun State Police Command.

During her tenure in Abeokuta, Bello reportedly earned the respect of residents and commuters through her professionalism, discipline and commitment to maintaining order on the roads.

Her consistent approach to duty and positive relationship with road users eventually attracted commendation from the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force.

Speaking at the ceremony, IGP Disu noted that members of the public were more likely to support police officers who carried out their responsibilities professionally and responsibly.

He stressed that while the Force would continue to sanction officers found guilty of misconduct, it was equally important to recognise and reward personnel who demonstrated exemplary conduct in the discharge of their duties.

According to him, rewarding outstanding service would help boost officers’ morale, encourage professionalism and reinforce the standards expected across the Nigeria Police Force.

The recognition of Bello underscores the importance of professionalism, discipline and positive engagement with the public in effective policing and traffic management.
