MC Oluomo Reveals He Is Taking English Lessons to Improve Fluency
The President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, has disclosed that he is taking English lessons to improve his spoken communication.
Akinsanya made the disclosure on Tuesday, November 3, while addressing Nollywood actor Adams Kehinde, popularly known as Lege Miami, and other attendees at a political gathering organised in support of President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.
Speaking in Yoruba, the transport union leader reportedly acknowledged that both he and Lege Miami were not fluent in English, adding that he had started attending lessons to improve his proficiency.
He also spoke about his frequent international travels, noting that travelling abroad had not necessarily improved his command of the English language.
Akinsanya further discussed his children’s educational and professional achievements, saying they spoke English better than him.
According to him, his children in the United States work in different professional fields, including nursing, medicine and engineering.
He added that he sometimes relied on them to communicate on his behalf when he found it difficult to express himself in English.
The disclosure comes amid previous public attention surrounding his spoken English, particularly in April 2025, when he attracted criticism following a video in which he pronounced the word “kudos” as “kundusi” while addressing members of the transport union in Abuja.
Responding to the criticism at the time, Akinsanya acknowledged his limitations in the English language but maintained that proficiency in English was not the only measure of achievement.
He was also quoted as saying that he understood Yoruba even if he struggled with English.
His latest reported comments suggest a willingness to improve his communication skills despite the criticism he has faced over the years.
