Zulum Dissolves Borno Executive Council Ahead of Elections

G Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has approved the immediate dissolution of the Borno State Executive Council, paving the way for members interested in contesting in the forthcoming general elections.

In a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Bukar Tijani, the decision was described as a strategic move to create an enabling environment for commissioners who may wish to pursue elective offices.

The governor directed all commissioners to hand over the affairs of their respective ministries to permanent secretaries on or before April 3, 2026.

Governor Zulum commended the outgoing council members for their dedication and contributions to governance and development in the state.

“The decision is to provide an enabling environment for any member of the council who may wish to contest elective positions in the forthcoming general elections.”
