Troops of the Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE (JTF OPEP) have neutralised a suspected kidnapper and arrested three alleged informants during a counter-kidnapping operation in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The operation followed credible intelligence received on December 15, 2025, about a kidnapping attempt in Dong community, Jos North LGA. According to the task force, troops swiftly responded to the report and engaged the suspects, forcing them to abandon their initial operation and flee the area.
While retreating, the criminals reportedly moved into a neighbouring community where they abducted four persons. Troops immediately pursued the suspects and engaged them in a firefight, during which one of the kidnappers was neutralised.
Items recovered from the neutralised suspect included one AK-47 rifle, a magazine and four rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition. In addition, three suspected informants believed to be providing support to the kidnappers were arrested.
The task force said efforts are ongoing to rescue the abducted victims and to apprehend other members of the criminal network involved in the incident.
In a statement signed by the Media Information Officer of JTF Operation ENDURING PEACE, Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, the task force reassured residents of Plateau State of its commitment to protecting lives and property across the Joint Operations Area. The statement added that troops remain vigilant and will continue to take decisive action against criminal activities to ensure sustained peace and security in the area.
