President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the killing of soldiers of the 29 Task Force Brigade, Operation HADIN KAI, following a coordinated terrorist attack on their camp in Benisheikh, Borno State.
The President extended condolences to the Armed Forces and the families of the fallen troops, describing the deceased soldiers as heroes who paid the ultimate price in defence of the nation.
“I extend my condolences to the families of our gallant soldiers… who made the ultimate sacrifice in the defence of our country. The government will never forget their sacrifices. Their sacrifices will not be in vain,” Tinubu said.
He commended the courage of the troops, noting that ongoing land and air offensives by the military have continued to weaken insurgent groups, with the recent attack reflecting what he described as desperation by the terrorists.
“From the reports I have received, our armed forces have been conducting sustained, intense land and air offensives… The insurgents’ counterattack is a sign of desperation.”
Tinubu also urged military personnel not to be discouraged by the loss, assuring them of the Federal Government’s continued support in terms of welfare and provision of necessary equipment.
“Do not lose heart, do not be weary, do not be discouraged… The government will always stand by the Armed Forces and ensure the welfare of all who risk their lives for our safety.”
The President further called on Nigerians and the media to stand firmly behind the military, stressing the need for national unity in the fight against insurgency and banditry.
“I urge Nigerians and the media to continue to support our Military… These soldiers are our heroes; unforgettable and irreplaceable.”
