President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially launched the NINAuth mobile application, a new innovation developed to enhance Nigeria’s digital identity framework and promote secure data management across public and private sectors.
The unveiling ceremony, held on Thursday in Abuja, marked a major step in the government’s efforts to advance the nation’s digital transformation agenda under the Renewed Hope Initiative.
The NINAuth app, developed by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), enables real-time authentication of citizens’ identities and offers users greater control over how their personal information linked to their National Identification Number (NIN) is accessed and shared.
Speaking during the launch, President Tinubu commended NIMC for leveraging technology to strengthen Nigeria’s identity infrastructure, describing the platform as a strategic tool for national development. He emphasized that a secure and reliable digital identity system is crucial for improving governance, driving financial inclusion, and ensuring national security.
The President also directed all government ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) to integrate the NINAuth platform into their verification processes to improve transparency, reduce identity fraud, and enhance service delivery to citizens.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to building a digital economy that empowers Nigerians, fosters innovation, and supports effective policy implementation.
The NINAuth initiative aligns with Nigeria’s broader push towards digital governance, ensuring that citizens’ data is used responsibly while facilitating easier access to essential services such as banking, education, healthcare, and social welfare.
