The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has predicted improved living conditions for Nigerians in 2026, declaring that hunger will reduce and the widely discussed “japa” migration trend will witness a reversal.
The 87-year-old cleric made the declaration during the church’s crossover service ushering in the new year, where he shared what he described as divine revelations concerning Nigeria and the rest of the world.
According to Pastor Adeboye, 2026 will mark a turning point for the country, with fewer Nigerians leaving in search of better opportunities abroad and some members of the diaspora returning home as conditions improve.
“There will be a reduction in hunger in Nigeria in 2026. There will be a reversal of japa; those who left before will return,” he said.
The revered cleric added that the prophecies concerning Nigeria would be unveiled in two phases, noting that he would release the second part when he receives further divine direction.
On the global outlook, Pastor Adeboye predicted a relatively calmer year, stating that the risk of wars would reduce and weather conditions would largely mirror what was experienced in 2025.
The prophecies have sparked mixed reactions across the country. While many followers and supporters have expressed optimism and hope amid rising inflation and food insecurity, critics argue that the declarations appear aspirational given Nigeria’s ongoing economic challenges, including high youth unemployment and cost-of-living pressures.
