Nigerian 6 Brigade Troops Neutralise Four Militia, Restore Calm in Taraba

Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, have neutralised four armed militia members and recovered multiple weapons in a swift and coordinated response to renewed communal unrest in Usmanu Village, Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State.
The operation was activated after credible intelligence revealed a fresh escalation in the long-standing land dispute between the Shomo and Wurkun communities. The clash, which resulted in the burning of houses and destruction of property, prompted immediate military intervention to prevent further breakdown of law and order.
On arriving at the troubled area, troops reportedly came under sudden attack from armed assailants emerging from the Fadama axis. The soldiers responded decisively, engaging the attackers in a short but fierce exchange that left four militia members neutralised.
A follow-up sweep of the area led to the recovery of three dane guns, a fabricated AK-47 rifle, twenty-five rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and two motorcycles believed to have been used by the fleeing attackers.
In a surprising twist, one personnel of the Nigeria Police Force was found operating alongside the armed militia. He was arrested and is currently being investigated to determine his level of involvement in the crisis.
Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of 6 Brigade/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke, praised the troops for their courage, discipline, and rapid response. He reaffirmed the Brigade’s resolve to rid Taraba State of criminal elements and maintain operational dominance across all its areas of responsibility.
General Uwa assured residents of Karim Lamido and the wider Taraba community that the military remains committed to restoring long-term peace and stability. He urged citizens to continue cooperating with security agencies by providing credible and timely information.
The Nigerian Army called on residents to remain calm and law-abiding as ongoing operations under Operation Peace Shield, Operation Lafiya Nakowa, and Operation Zafin Wuta continue to stabilise the region.
