Nigeria Receives 170 Citizenship Applications — Interior Minister

N Nigeria has received 170 applications for citizenship from nationals of various countries, the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has disclosed.

Tunji-Ojo made this known in Abuja during a meeting of the Advisory Committee on Nigerian Citizenship, which he chairs.

According to a statement issued by Mary Ali, Assistant Director of Press and Public Relations, the minister emphasized that acquiring Nigerian citizenship is a privilege reserved for individuals who demonstrate integrity and good character.

He urged the committee to diligently scrutinize every application to ensure applicants meet the required standards.

Tunji-Ojo warned that the Federal Government would not condone any attempt to obtain citizenship through unlawful means, insisting that due process in migration must be respected at all times.

Reaffirming President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, the minister noted that the committee’s work plays a critical role in promoting national integrity, security, and economic prosperity.
