NAF Clarifies Precautionary Landing of C-130 Aircraft in Burkina Faso

T The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has confirmed that one of its C-130 transport aircraft made a precautionary landing in Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso, during a ferry mission to Portugal on 8 December 2025.

In a statement issued by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the NAF said the aircraft had departed Lagos when the crew detected a technical concern that required an immediate diversion to the nearest airfield, in line with international aviation safety protocols.

“Following takeoff from Lagos, the crew observed a technical concern which necessitated a precautionary landing in Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso, the nearest airfield, in accordance with standard safety procedures and international aviation protocols,” the statement read.

Ejodame assured the public that all crew members were safe and had received warm and professional support from authorities in Burkina Faso. He added that arrangements were underway to continue the mission as planned.

According to him, the NAF remains fully committed to upholding operational safety and protecting its personnel. “The Nigerian Air Force appreciates the support received during this period and assures the public that NAF remains professionally committed to strict compliance with operational procedures and safety standards,” the statement added.

The incident occurred on Monday, while the clarification was issued on 9 December 2025.
