LASU Named Nigeria’s Most Digitally Innovative University of 2025

Lagos State University (LASU) has been named the Most Digitally Innovative Nigerian University of the Year 2025 by The Octagon Media Group, further cementing its leadership in technology-driven education and institutional innovation.
The award was presented during The Octagon Media Group’s 12th Anniversary and Champions Awards Ceremony, held on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at Leotori Halls & Lodge, Abule Taylor, Lagos.
According to the organisers, the honour recognises LASU’s outstanding strides in digital transformation, its extensive adoption of educational technology, and its sustained commitment to enriching teaching, learning, and administrative processes through modern digital platforms. The institution was commended for promoting digital literacy, driving research efficiency, and leveraging technology to improve community engagement.
Representatives of The Octagon Media praised LASU’s “exemplary digitised educational practices, integrity, innovation, and dedication to societal advancement,” noting that the university’s achievements continue to position it as a model for technological progress in Nigeria’s higher education sector.
The LASU delegation at the ceremony was led by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Professor Oseni Taiwo Afisi, who represented the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM. Other principal officers in attendance included the Bursar, Mr Said Babatunde Olayinka (represented by Deputy Bursar, Mr Kunle Adebesho); the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Professor Lawal Adigun; the Director of Internal Audit, Mrs Margareth Ogunkoya; Deputy Registrar, VC’s Office, Dr Lateef Sekoni; Deputy Registrar/Special Assistant to the VC, Dr Lateef Salami; and Deputy Registrar/Coordinator, Centre for Information and Public Relations (CIPR), Mrs Oluwayemisi Thomas-Onashile.
The recognition aligns with the vision of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olatunji-Bello, to position LASU as Africa’s foremost citadel of learning—one driven by innovation, relevance, and academic excellence.
The Octagon Champions Award is held annually to celebrate individuals and institutions whose work significantly contributes to national development, societal progress, and human empowerment.
