Lagos State has been named the host city for the 2025 edition of the prestigious Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu made the announcement on Monday via his official X handle, describing the hosting rights as an opportunity for Lagos to reaffirm its leadership role in the creative sector.
He noted that Nollywood is not only central to Nigeria’s cultural identity but also a key driver of economic growth and a major contributor to the country’s global image.
“This is an opportunity to show our deep commitment to the creative industry in Lagos and across Nigeria,” the Governor said. “Nollywood is a vital part of our culture, our economy, and our global identity. We remain committed to supporting the creative industry, and we are ready to make this year’s BON Awards truly special.”
The Best of Nollywood Awards, established in 2009, has grown into one of Nigeria’s most prominent platforms for celebrating excellence in filmmaking, acting, and storytelling. Over the years, the awards have rotated among different host states, with Lagos previously serving as a major hub for its glittering ceremonies.
With Lagos now preparing to welcome stars, filmmakers, and stakeholders for the 2025 edition, expectations are high for a celebration that will highlight both the creative and economic power of Nollywood.
