How Ondo Landlord Masterminded Abduction, Killing of Two Missing AAUA Students

New and chilling details have emerged in the tragic case of two undergraduates of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), who were abducted and brutally murdered in June 2025.
The students—25-year-old Abah John Friday and his 19-year-old friend, Okah Andrel Eloho—were declared missing on June 20, sparking widespread concern among students, families, and the larger Ondo community.
In a press briefing on Wednesday, the Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Williams Lawal, revealed that the crime was a premeditated and cold-blooded act orchestrated by none other than a landlord of one of the deceased students.
According to Commissioner Lawal, the tragic sequence began when a formal petition was submitted to the police by the victims' families on June 24, prompting the immediate launch of an investigation. The trail of clues led the police to Lagos, where they arrested 38-year-old Abdul Mohammed Mubarak. He was found in possession of an iPhone 14 Pro Max belonging to one of the missing students.
Mubarak confessed during interrogation that he purchased the phone from a man named Ojo Michael. Acting swiftly, detectives tracked and apprehended Michael in Aramoko-Ekiti, Ekiti State. Under questioning, Michael admitted involvement in the crime and made a startling confession—he was recruited for the operation by Oladele Femi, a landlord in Akungba-Akoko and acquaintance of one of the students.
Femi, the alleged mastermind, reportedly planned the abduction with the aim of robbing the students. He recruited Michael and another individual identified simply as “Kola,” who remains at large. The students were lured to a location where they were held captive and robbed. During their detention, ?800,000 was withdrawn from Abah's bank account.
However, the plan took a deadly turn when Eloho Okah reportedly recognized Michael as someone she knew. Fearing that the students could later identify and implicate them, the gang decided to eliminate both victims. The bodies were subsequently dumped in a bush path between Agbado and Ode-Ekiti.
The remains of Okah Eloho have since been recovered and taken for autopsy, while police are still searching for the body of Abah, believed to have been disposed of in a nearby river. The stolen Lexus RX 350 SUV belonging to the victims was also recovered as part of the evidence.
Commissioner Lawal expressed deep sympathy to the bereaved families and assured the public that justice would be served. He confirmed that investigations are ongoing and that the police are making intensified efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspect, “Kola.”
The horrific murder of the two students has ignited outrage across Ondo State and Nigeria’s student communities, raising urgent questions about safety, landlord-tenant relations, and the need for thorough background checks in student accommodations.
Authorities have called on anyone with useful information about the fugitive to come forward, as the police remain committed to bringing all perpetrators to justice.
