Governor AbdulRazaq Rewards Kwara Debate Champions with N1 Million Each

K Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq, has officially received and honoured the state's contingent to the President’s School Debate Competition (Senior Category), praising their outstanding performance and presenting them with generous cash awards.

The debate team comprised four exceptional students: Moshood Kamaldeen of Government Secondary School, Ilorin; AbdulAzeez Abdulmuntasir of St. Anthony Secondary School, Ilorin; Usman Mariam Enyo of Ilorin Grammar School; and AbdulAzeez Aisha of Nawarudeen Grammar School, Offa. They were accompanied by their lead tutor, Mrs. Babatunde Amina Idowu.

Governor AbdulRazaq, while congratulating the team, expressed his admiration for their achievement and the broader progress in the education sector in the state.

"Yesterday, I officially received the Kwara State contingent to the President's School Debate Competition (Senior)... I again congratulated these champions and commended their superlative performances, which I trace to the efforts of their parents, their great teachers, and our consistent investment in the future of Kwara children," the governor stated.

He noted that recent achievements were evidence of Kwara’s steady educational advancement. "With our modest efforts in the sector, we have seen a pattern of impressive outings and better learning outcomes at different layers. It is heartwarming, indeed!"

As a mark of appreciation, Governor AbdulRazaq announced a monetary gift of ?1 million to each student and ?500,000 to each of their coaches.

"Beside being lifetime ambassadors of our state anywhere they go to, I announced a monetary gift of one million naira to each of these students and N500,000 each for their coaches (teachers) as a symbolic appreciation of their great efforts. We hope to see them flying higher and higher in life," he said.

The Governor also extended his appreciation to the Honourable Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, and the staff of the Teaching Service Commission, the State Universal Basic Education Board, and other stakeholders who contributed to the success of the team.

The event highlights the state government’s continued commitment to educational excellence and the empowerment of young talents.
