Reps Outline Legislative Agenda for July 2 Plenary

T The House of Representatives has released its legislative agenda for the day’s plenary session.

According to the House Spokesman, Rep. Akin Rotimi Jr., “Today’s plenary will feature the presentation of Matters of Urgent Public Importance and Public Petitions, alongside a robust agenda.”

The session includes the presentation of two reports by Rep. Abubakar Hassan Fulata: the bill to establish the Federal University of Entrepreneur and Business Management, Ekinrin Adde, Kogi State; and the bill to establish the Federal University of Health Sciences, Dawakin Tofa, Kano State.

Also scheduled for second reading are ten bills: the National Sickle Cell Institution (Establishment) Bill by Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen and Rep. Ahmad Munir; the Federal Orthopaedic Hospital, Obokun, Osun State Bill by Rep. Julius Ihonvbere; the South East Institute for Vocational and Entrepreneurial Studies, Umuobun, Imo State Bill by Rep. Ikeagwuonu Ugochinyere; the Federal Medical Centre, Wurno, Sokoto State Bill by Rep. Ibrahim Al-Mustapha Aliyu; the Lithium Development Commission of Nigeria Bill by Rep. Victor Obuzor; the Constitution Alteration Bill to create Ethiope State by Rep. Benedict Etanabene; the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Act (Amendment) Bill by Rep. Kafilat Ogbara; the Chartered Institute of Enterprise Risk Management of Nigeria Bill by Rep. Adamu Tanko; the Federal Institute of Mining and Geosciences, Ikoro Ekiti Bill by Reps. Jonathan Gaza Gbefwi and Olufemi Bamisile; and the Nigerian Correctional Service Act (Amendment) Bill to establish a trust fund for inmate rehabilitation by Rep. Olusola Steve Fatoba.

The plenary will also deliberate on a motion presented by Rep. Saleh Gabriel Zock on the urgent need for the rehabilitation of the Jere–Kurmin Jibrin and Kachia–Kwoi roads in Kaduna State.

Thirteen reports are up for consideration: the Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences, Egbe, Kogi State Bill; the Federal Road Safety Commission Act (Amendment) Bill by Rep. Abiodun Derin Adesida; the Akanu Ibiam Federal University of Technology, Unwana Bill by Rep. Abubakar Hassan Fulata; the National Polytechnics Commission Bill by Rep. Fuad Kayode Laguda; the Integrated Corporate Data Management Commission Bill, the Institute of Debt Recovery Practitioners of Nigeria Bill, and the Agro Processing Export Free Trade Zone, Yewa North/Imeko Afon, Ogun State Bill—all sponsored by Rep. Ahmed Munir. Others include the Federal Medical Centre, Mangu, Plateau State; the Federal College of Nursing Sciences, Mangun, Plateau State; and the Federal Medical Centre, Uluoke–Uzaire, Edo State—all sponsored by Rep. Patrick Umoh. Rep. Adamu Tanko will also present two reports on the Federal College of Education (Technical), Ogute–Okpella, Edo State, and the Federal College of Education, Oyin Akoko, Ondo State. Rounding off the agenda is a report by Rep. Mark B. Useni on the need to reverse the recent hike in fees in Unity Schools.
