Gov AbdulRazaq Pays Medical Bills for Injured Kwara Students in Sokoto Accident

K Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has approved the immediate release of funds to offset the medical bills of 13 students of Kwara origin who were injured in a recent road accident while returning to Usman Dan Fodio University, Sokoto (UDUS).

The students, who were victims of an auto crash along the Yauri-Sokoto Expressway in Kebbi State, are currently receiving treatment at the UDUS Teaching Hospital. Tragically, the driver of their vehicle lost his life in the incident.

According to the Special Assistant to the Governor on Students Affairs, Hon. Wasiu Onidugbe, eight of the students sustained bone fractures requiring urgent surgical procedures, while five others are undergoing various levels of treatment for different injuries.

“The Governor has immediately released N5,250,000.00 to cover the cost of tests, scans, and other procedures and treatments already itemized by the hospital,” Hon. Onidugbe said in a statement.

He further conveyed the Governor’s get-well-soon message to the affected students, adding that, “The Governor prays to God to grant the students safe and speedy recovery.”

The intervention underscores the Governor’s commitment to student welfare and his swift response to emergencies affecting Kwara indigenes across the country.
