The Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, has presented the 2026 Draft Budget Estimate to the Osun State House of Assembly in accordance with Section 121 (1) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).
The presentation, which took place at the hallowed chamber of the Assembly complex, was received by the Speaker, Hon Adewale Egbedun, and Members of the House with commendation for the Governor’s continued commitment to transparency, accountability, and good governance.
In his address, the Speaker noted that the annual budget presentation goes beyond a constitutional ritual, describing it as a reaffirmation of the government’s shared resolve to strengthen fiscal responsibility and socio-economic progress across the state.
He praised Governor Adeleke for his maturity, fairness, and calm handling of the Local Government administration disputes, noting that his democratic approach reflects true statesmanship.
Egbedun also highlighted that despite the withholding of Local Government allocations since March 2025, the Adeleke administration has sustained developmental projects, honoured financial obligations, and continued to prioritize workers’ welfare.
As the legislative scrutiny of the 2026 Appropriation Bill begins, the Speaker assured that the House will be thorough, fair, and people-focused in its review to ensure that every budgetary allocation contributes meaningfully to sustainable development in Osun State.
He concluded by reaffirming the Assembly’s dedication to working collaboratively with the executive arm for the growth and prosperity of the State of the Living Spring.
