CBN Governor Inaugurates New ACGSF Board to Boost Agricultural Financing

T The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Mr. Olayemi Cardoso, has inaugurated the new Board of the Agricultural Credit Guarantee Scheme Fund (ACGSF), reaffirming the Bank’s commitment to strengthening the nation’s agricultural sector.

Speaking at the inauguration, Governor Cardoso highlighted the Scheme’s critical role in de-risking agricultural lending since 1977 and called for a more innovative, inclusive, and technology-driven approach to support farmers, with particular focus on women and youth.

He noted that with repayment rates between 90 and 98 percent, the Scheme has continued to deliver significant impact in boosting rural livelihoods and productivity. The new Board, chaired by Dr. Olusegun Oshin, is tasked with enhancing collaboration, monitoring, and real-time tracking to further improve outcomes for farmers.

The newly inaugurated ACGSF Board members include Dr. Olusegun Oshin (Chairman), Prof. Murtala Sabo Sagagi, Dr. Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe, Engr. Frank Satumari Kudla, Ms. Olusola Sowemimo, Ms. Adetoun Abbi-Olaniyan, and Mr. Wondi Philip Ndanusa. The event was attended by CBN Deputy Governors, departmental directors, and other staff.
