Breaking: El-Rufai Loses Mother

H Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, mother of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has passed away.

The news of her death was announced on Friday by a family member via a Facebook post, expressing grief and submission to the will of Allah.

“Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. From Allah SWT we came and to Him we shall all return. I would like to inform the public of the demise of my Grandmother, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai who passed away a few hours ago,” the post read.

The statement further confirmed that the deceased was the biological mother of the former governor, while also offering prayers for her soul.

“We are grateful for the life she lived and may Allah SWT bless her gentle soul. May He bless the soul of the parents we have lost. On behalf of our family, we seek your prayers. Thank you,” the message added.

As of the time of filing this report, details surrounding the cause of her death and burial arrangements had not been disclosed.

The development comes amid ongoing legal proceedings involving El-Rufai, who is currently in the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission following his re-arrest after earlier detention by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
