Three Oyo Government Officials Resign as Makinde Faces Fresh Departures
Three officials in the administration of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde have resigned their appointments, including the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Ayobami Oluwaseun Ojo.
The other officials are the Special Adviser on Budget and Economic Planning, Simeon Adegbola Oyeleke, and a member of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC), Sunday Olugbenga Falana.
Their resignations took effect on Monday, November 2, 2026, according to details contained in their respective resignation letters and reports of the development.
Ojo, in a letter addressed to Makinde through the Secretary to the State Government, formally announced his decision to relinquish his appointment as commissioner with immediate effect.
He expressed appreciation to the governor for the opportunity to serve the state, describing his time in the administration as a great honour.
However, he did not disclose any reason for his resignation.
Similarly, Oyeleke submitted his resignation as Special Adviser on Budget and Economic Planning, citing an unconducive working environment and his inability to effectively pursue the aspirations of his people within the administration.
In his letter, he expressed appreciation to Makinde for his leadership, encouragement and support, as well as the opportunity to contribute to the government’s policies and development programmes.
Meanwhile, Falana also resigned his appointment as a member of OYSIEC in a letter dated November 2 and addressed to the governor through the Chief of Staff.
He reportedly thanked Makinde for the opportunity to serve on the state’s electoral management body but did not state any reason for his departure.
The three resignations add to recent changes involving political appointees in the Makinde administration.
In October, the governor’s Chief of Staff, Segun Ogunwuyi, also resigned his appointment after serving in the administration for more than five years.
The latest departures come amid increasing political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
However, the circumstances surrounding the three resignations have not established whether the decisions are connected to the emerging political developments.
As of Tuesday, November 3, the Oyo State Government had not issued a public statement explaining the latest departures.
