FUNAAB Deputy Bursar, Dr Omisope, Emerges Bursar of BOUESTI
The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has recorded another milestone in professional excellence and leadership development following the appointment of its Deputy Bursar I, Dr Margaret Omisope, as the second substantive Bursar of Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology (BOUESTI), Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
The appointment was described by FUNAAB as a testament to Dr Omisope’s professional competence, dedication to service and extensive experience in university financial administration.
In a statement, the Acting Head of the Directorate of Public Relations, FUNAAB, Mr Olasunkanmi Olajide, said the appointment further demonstrated the university’s contribution to producing highly skilled professionals who continue to make significant contributions to Nigeria’s university system.
Olajide said FUNAAB Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, had congratulated Dr Omisope on her appointment, describing it as a well-deserved recognition of her years of dedicated service, professional accomplishments and commitment to excellence.
According to him, the Vice-Chancellor expressed confidence that Dr Omisope’s wealth of experience, academic qualifications and proven administrative capacity would contribute significantly to the financial management and institutional development of BOUESTI.
Prof. Kehinde also wished her a successful and impactful tenure, while urging her to uphold the values of integrity, accountability and professionalism in the discharge of her new responsibilities.
Dr Omisope, described as a seasoned accounting professional and university administrator, has built a career spanning more than two decades, with extensive experience in financial management, institutional administration and university financial operations.
She began her career at FUNAAB in 1999 as an Accountant II in the Bursary Department and rose through the ranks to become Deputy Bursar I in 2024, a position she currently occupies.
During her years at FUNAAB, she worked across various divisions of the Bursary Department, gaining extensive knowledge of the university’s financial operations and administrative processes. She also served as Acting Managing Director of the UNAAB Microfinance Bank, further expanding her expertise in financial management and administration.
Academically, Dr Omisope obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Ondo State University, Ado-Ekiti, now Ekiti State University (EKSU), in 1998. She subsequently earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Ado-Ekiti, now EKSU, in 2003.
She obtained a Master of Science degree in Accounting from Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State, in 2022, and completed her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Accounting at the same institution in 2026.
Dr Omisope is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and belongs to several professional bodies, including the Institute of Public Management of Nigeria, Nigerian Institute of Management, Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria and Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria.
She also obtained a certification from the Bureau of Public Procurement in 2013.
Her appointment is expected to bring her extensive professional experience, academic credentials and institutional knowledge to bear on the financial administration and strategic development of BOUESTI.
The development further reinforces FUNAAB’s reputation for cultivating professional expertise and administrative leadership, with its personnel continuing to distinguish themselves in key positions across Nigeria’s higher education sector.
