Troops Neutralise 10 Terrorists, Recover Weapons in Borno Operation

T Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have neutralised 10 insurgents and recovered a cache of weapons and equipment during a night operation along the Gamboru–Dikwa–Marte axis of Borno State.

It was gathered that the operation, carried out by Sector 1 troops of the 24 Task Force Brigade on Saturday, followed an earlier engagement in the Katarko area where more than 50 terrorists were reportedly eliminated.

According to military sources, the latest encounter occurred around 11:50pm when the troops, manning an ambush position near Dikwa, identified terrorists attempting to infiltrate Gamboru-Ngala through the Flatari axis.

The insurgents, who initially redirected towards Dikwa after suffering heavy casualties, were intercepted again and overwhelmed by superior firepower.

At daybreak, troops conducted a clearance operation that confirmed 10 insurgents had been killed. Recovered items included five AK-47 rifles, one PKT machine gun, locally-made guns, improvised pistols, loaded magazines, linked ammunition, and boxes of cartridges.

Other seized equipment included motorcycles, bicycles, a radio, and personal effects such as charms, a water flask, and a raincoat.

Military authorities commended the troops for what they described as tactical precision, adding that the success reinforces ongoing counter-insurgency efforts to secure communities and restore stability across the North-East.
