Police Suspend Enforcement of Tinted Glass Permits Nationwide

T The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has announced a temporary suspension of the enforcement of the Motor Vehicles (Prohibition of Tinted Glass) Act, 1991, following a meeting with the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.

According to a statement by the Force, the suspension will remain in effect pending the determination of a Motion on Notice slated for October 16, 2025, at the Federal High Court, Warri, Delta State.

During the NBA’s courtesy visit to Louis Edet House, both parties emphasized the need for collaboration in promoting the rule of law and restoring public trust. Consequently, a joint Police-NBA committee has been inaugurated to strengthen cooperation on legal and enforcement matters.

The Force advised vehicle owners to take advantage of the suspension period to update their vehicle documentation and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.

Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, reiterated the Force’s dedication to fair enforcement, transparency, and constructive engagement with stakeholders.
