
NSIB Launches Probe into Abuja-Kaduna Train Derailment, Six Injured

The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has opened a full-scale investigation into the derailment of a Kaduna-bound train that occurred on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at about 11:09 a.m. between Kubwa Station and Asham Station.
According to Bimbo Olawumi Oladeji, Director of Public Affairs and Family Assistance at NSIB, six passengers sustained injuries during the incident, while no fatalities were recorded.
Oladeji assured the public that the bureau will conduct a thorough inquiry to ascertain the cause of the derailment and issue safety recommendations to forestall similar occurrences in the future. She added that updates would be provided as the investigation progresses.
“The NSIB remains committed to ensuring a safer transportation system for Nigerians through transparent and independent investigations,” she stated.
