Lagos Seals Lekki Estate for Illegal Sewage Discharge

T The Lagos State Government, through the Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO), has sealed off Myca 7 Court, Van Daniel Estate, Off Orchid Road, Lekki, for illegally discharging sewage into public drains.

According to Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, the action followed public outcry and was in line with the state’s commitment to a safer and cleaner Lagos. He explained that the estate was found deliberately pumping sewage into the drains via a pumping machine, causing public nuisance, environmental pollution, and posing serious risks to human life.

“Every act of environmental nuisance and pollution portends grave dangers to public health and will be met with appropriate sanctions and/or prosecution,” Wahab warned.
