Kwara Governor Holds Emergency Security Meeting with Kwara South Monarchs

K Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON, on Monday held an emergency security briefing with traditional rulers from Kwara South at the palace of the Olupo of Ajase-Ipo.

The meeting, which built on earlier engagements the Governor had with individual monarchs, was well attended by first-class and other traditional rulers, as well as Local Government Council Chairmen.

Governor AbdulRazaq gave the monarchs a detailed account of the security situation in the area, outlining what he described as the “multilayered approach” being implemented by the state government in collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser.

“We can never abandon you. And from my briefings, you can see what we are doing. A lot has happened in this area; several arrests, including of notorious criminals, have been made. But we have a duty to manage information in order not to compromise the safety of our people and the security agents, but I assure you that we are working,” he told the monarchs.

The Governor also spoke on the security challenges involving food theft in some communities, narrating recent incidents and the state’s response.

“Food, there are no provisions. So they went into Urbana to pound away food, and that's what they did — they carted away food from Urbana. Now, they've done that. Aguja is still tracking them and following them. We have trained forest guards. We took the best of our vigilantes, about 7,000 of them,” he explained.

The monarchs commended the Governor for his openness and expressed appreciation for his “down-to-earth briefings.” They also prayed for his success, both in security management and his broader transformative projects across the state.
