JAMB Delists 23 CBT Centres Over Technical Glitches

T The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has revoked the accreditation of 23 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres nationwide following widespread technical issues recorded during the 2026 Mock Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

In a statement released in Abuja, the board’s Public Communication Adviser, Fabian Benjamin, revealed that the affected centres fell short of the operational standards required to conduct JAMB examinations.

He added that while some centres with minor deficiencies were placed under strict warning, one centre in Lagos State has been permanently blacklisted from participating in any future examinations conducted by the board.

Benjamin described the mock UTME as a strategic quality-control exercise designed not only to prepare candidates for the computer-based testing format but also to assess the technical capacity and reliability of accredited centres.

According to him, the board’s post-mock evaluation exposed lapses ranging from system inefficiencies to infrastructural shortcomings in some locations.

“The mock examination allows us to test the system, detect weaknesses, and ensure that only centres that meet our strict benchmarks are allowed to handle the main UTME,” he stated.

He emphasised that the sanctions were necessary to protect the integrity and smooth conduct of the examination process, noting that JAMB would not tolerate any lapses capable of disrupting candidates’ experience.

The board reassured candidates that corrective measures are already in place to prevent disruptions during the main UTME, urging them not to panic.

Benjamin also warned that centres currently on probation must urgently upgrade their facilities or risk facing similar penalties.

He reiterated JAMB’s commitment to deploying improved monitoring systems nationwide and advised candidates to regularly print their examination notification slips to stay updated on their exam details.
