In a significant stride towards empowering Nigeria's youth, Dr. Afiz Oluwatoyin Ogun, Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), addressed a vibrant Townhall Meeting with youth groups and organizations today.
The event, organized by the House of Representatives, took place at the National Assembly complex in Abuja.
Dr. Ogun emphasized the critical importance of equipping the next generation of artisans with the skills necessary to thrive in today’s dynamic economy.
He outlined the Skilled Up Artisans (SUPA) initiative, a cornerstone of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda. This initiative is dedicated to upskilling and reskilling artisans, ensuring they are well-prepared for the challenges and opportunities of a modernized workforce.
"We're committed to unlocking the potential of our youth and equipping them with the skills needed to thrive in today's economy," Dr. Ogun stated. He highlighted that the SUPA initiative is not just about technical training but also about fostering entrepreneurship and innovation among young Nigerians.
The Townhall Meeting served as a platform for engaging directly with the youth, understanding their needs, and addressing their concerns. Dr. Ogun's speech resonated with the audience, reinforcing the government's dedication to creating a prosperous future through education and skill development.
Through initiatives like SUPA, the ITF aims to build a brighter future for Nigeria's youth while simultaneously driving economic growth.
The programme focus on practical skills and continuous learning positions it as a pivotal element in Nigeria's socio-economic development strategy.
