The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has approved the immediate deployment of new Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) to lead key Zonal Commands and the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex in Lagos. This directive aims to strengthen internal security and enhance the professionalism of the Nigeria Police Force.
In the latest postings, AIG Suleiman M. Yusuf has been assigned to Zone 9, Umuahia; AIG Ahmed Ammani to Zone 1, Kano; AIG Zachariah Fera to Zone 4, Makurdi; and AIG Augustina N. Ogbodo to the FCID Annex in Lagos. These changes follow the retirement of some AIGs and the promotion of former AIG Zone 1, DIG Ari Muhammed Ali, to Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Department of Operations at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
The Inspector-General has urged the newly posted AIGs to prioritize professionalism, strict supervision, and diligence in their duties. He emphasized the importance of aligning their work with ongoing police reform efforts, particularly in upholding ethics and promoting lawful conduct among officers.
IGP Egbetokun further charged the officers to take a firm stance against misconduct and ensure that personnel under their supervision adhere to the highest standards of integrity. He stressed that their leadership would play a critical role in enhancing the performance of the Nigeria Police Force and contributing to national security.
The recent appointments reflect the IGP's commitment to repositioning the police force for greater effectiveness. By assigning experienced officers to strategic positions, the leadership aims to address security challenges and strengthen public trust in law enforcement.
This development is part of broader efforts to implement reforms and improve the operational efficiency of the Nigeria Police Force, fostering a safer and more secure environment for citizens across the country.
