Gov Aiyedatiwa optimistic about victory as he casts vote in Ondo poll

Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC) expressed strong confidence in securing a win as he cast his vote in the governorship election.
The governor voted at Polling Unit 5 in Ugbo Ward, 4 Obenla community, Ilaje Local Government Area, around 8:50 am, as the electoral process got underway across the state.
Following his vote, Governor Aiyedatiwa praised the peaceful atmosphere of the election and acknowledged the strong turnout of voters. Speaking with optimism, he credited his administration’s efforts over the past 10 months as a key factor in his anticipated victory.
“With what we have done in the last 10 months, I believe the voters know who they want. I’m in an advantaged position because of the work we've done since I assumed office,” he said, highlighting his extensive outreach throughout the state's 18 local government areas. “It is peaceful here, and the turnout is very, very encouraging. I expect this to be the case across Ondo.”
Governor Aiyedatiwa also commended the security forces, including the police, civil defense, and the military, for their preparedness and efforts in ensuring a secure election. “I want to commend the security agencies. They’re heavily deployed to address any potential threat, and I believe the people will maintain order,” he said, adding that Ondo remains one of Nigeria's safest and most peaceful states.
