Eruku Abductions: Gov AbdulRazaq Hails President Tinubu as 38 Victims Regain Freedom

K Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has announced the release of all 38 worshippers abducted during the attack on Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Eruku, in Ekiti Local Government Area. The victims regained freedom today, November 23, after days of coordinated security operations.

Governor AbdulRazaq attributed the successful rescue to what he described as President Bola Tinubu’s “hands-on and decisive intervention,” noting that the President personally led efforts to secure the abductees’ release. According to the Governor, President Tinubu even suspended his planned trip to the G20 Meeting in South Africa to respond to the security breaches in Kwara and Kebbi states.

The Governor said the President also ordered heightened security deployment to Kwara, reinforcing the federal commitment to the safety of Nigerians.

He expressed appreciation to the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Intelligence Agency, and the Nigeria Police Force—which deployed four new tactical units to the state on the President’s directive.

AbdulRazaq also thanked security operatives, community leaders, religious institutions, and residents for their support throughout the incident.

The statement was issued by Rafiu Ajakaye, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, on November 23, 2025.
