President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to depart Abuja on Thursday, October 29, for Makkah, Saudi Arabia, to perform Umrah, an Islamic spiritual pilgrimage.

According to a statement reported by Channels Television on Wednesday, the visit will provide the President with an opportunity for spiritual reflection and prayers for Nigeria’s peace, unity, stability and continued progress.

During his stay in Makkah, Tinubu is expected to perform the religious rites associated with Umrah and seek Allah’s guidance and blessings for Nigeria and its people.

Before leaving the country, the President is expected to inaugurate equipment acquired by the Nigerian Air Force for its operations. The event is scheduled to take place at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria next week after completing the spiritual exercise, according to the report.

Umrah is a pilgrimage to Makkah that Muslims can undertake at different times of the year, unlike Hajj, which takes place during a designated period in the Islamic calendar.
