The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has inaugurated a newly acquired national secretariat in Jabi, Abuja, as the party steps up preparations for the 2027 general elections.

The inauguration took place on Monday, October 26, following a meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC), according to reports of the event.

The new facility is expected to serve as an administrative centre for coordinating the party’s activities, strengthening communication among its state chapters and organising its operations ahead of the elections.

Senator Seriake Dickson, identified as the party’s national leader, described the secretariat as the NDC’s new Noah’s Ark, presenting it as a unifying base for party members and supporters.

The inauguration was attended by the party’s National Chairman, Senator Moses Cleopas, and Senator Victor Umeh, who represents Anambra Central in the National Assembly. Dumo Lulu-Briggs, the party’s Rivers State governorship candidate, was also reported to be among those present

The acquisition comes as political parties strengthen their structures and organise their campaigns ahead of the 2027 general elections.

For the NDC, the new secretariat is expected to provide a central location for administrative coordination and campaign planning as it seeks to expand its political activities nationwide.

However, the opening of a new headquarters does not in itself establish the party’s electoral strength. Its performance in the forthcoming elections will depend on several factors, including its organisation, candidates, campaign strategy and support among voters.

The party’s new secretariat therefore marks an organisational development ahead of the 2027 polls, while its ability to translate that development into electoral gains remains to be seen.
