The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, has criticised the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC)’s campaign council for the 2027 general elections, describing its membership list as being “filled with content creators”.

Bwala made the remarks in a post on X on Sunday, October 25, shortly after the opposition party announced the composition of its National Campaign Council.

“@PeterObi and NDC have released their list of campaign council members; and as expected it is filled with content creators,” he wrote.

He also accused the party of failing to identify what he described as its media surrogates operating in mainstream broadcasting.

“They stylishly refused to name their campaign media surrogates in the mainstream media masquerading as OAP,” Bwala added.

The criticism followed the NDC’s announcement of its campaign leadership ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Under the arrangement, the party’s National Leader, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, will chair the campaign council, while its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, will serve as co-chairman.

The party’s National Chairman, Senator Cleopas Moses Zuwoghe, was named vice-chairman, while its vice-presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, was appointed co-vice-chairman.

The council’s other key appointments include Barrister Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu as council secretary and Mallam Ibrahim Hussain Abdulkarim as Director-General of the presidential campaign.

The NDC said the council would coordinate campaign activities across the country and mobilise support for its vision of a “new, just, and prosperous Nigeria”. It also described its proposed campaign as people-centred and issue-based.

Bwala’s comments add to the political exchanges surrounding the preparations of parties ahead of the 2027 elections. However, his description of the council as being dominated by content creators remains his assessment; the comment does not, on its own, establish the professional backgrounds or effectiveness of the council’s members.

No response from the NDC specifically addressing Bwala’s criticism was established in the sources examined for this report.
