2027: Dickson to Lead NDC Campaign Council as Obi, Kwankwaso Take Key Roles
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has constituted its National Campaign Council for the 2027 general elections, naming its national leader, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, as chairman and presidential candidate Peter Obi as co-chairman.
The party announced the appointments in a statement published on Sunday, October 25, outlining the leadership structure that will coordinate its campaign activities and mobilisation efforts ahead of the elections.
Under the arrangement, the party’s National Chairman, Senator Cleopas Moses Zuwoghe, will serve as vice-chairman, while its vice-presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has been named co-vice-chairman.
The NDC’s National Secretary, Barrister Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu, will serve as council secretary, while Mallam Ibrahim Hussain Abdulkarim has been appointed Director-General of the presidential campaign.
The campaign leadership also includes former Secretary to the Government of the Federation Babachir Lawal, who will chair the National Campaign Advisory Council, with former Ebonyi State Governor Sam Egwu named its vice-chairman.
Other members of the campaign structure include former senator Ovie Omo-Agege, Senator Victor Umeh, former presidential adviser Babachir Lawal, political strategist Buba Galadima and economist Professor Pat Utomi, among others.
The party has also listed representatives for states across the federation as part of its advisory and mobilisation structures.
In announcing the council, the NDC said it would provide strategic leadership, coordinate campaign activities nationwide and mobilise support for its vision of a “new, just and prosperous Nigeria”.
The party described its proposed campaign as people-centred and issue-based, urging members and supporters to remain united as preparations for the 2027 elections continue.
The announcement marks another step in the party’s preparations for the next general elections, with its campaign council expected to coordinate political mobilisation and communicate its agenda to voters across the country.
